⚠️ Four pitfalls to avoid

Don't be vague about what counts. "Drink containers" gets people dumping milk jugs and wine bottles, which cost you time at the Return Point. The flyer's eligible/ineligible grid is doing real work — print it big, share it everywhere.
Don't wait until the end for one giant trip. 500 containers fills several large garbage bags. Plan 2-3 medium runs to your Return Point over the 4 weeks — easier on your car, easier on your back, and you'll see the donations adding up as you go.
Don't underestimate the nudge message. Neighbours forget. The week-2-3 reminder typically brings in 30-40% more containers than the launch alone — people who meant to put them out but didn't.
Don't skip the wrap-up thank-you. "We collected X containers, raised $Y, thank you" is the message that makes neighbours say "let me know next time." Repeat campaigns get easier because people remember.
